Janine Buisman Wilcox is a Naturopathic Doctor, Guelph local, and Mom of three young kids. She is passionate about helping her patients get to the root of their health challenges so they have energy to enjoy life. She truly believes that health brings happiness. When we feel great, we can accomplish the things we want to in our school, work, family, friendships, and personal lives. When we feel poorly, the simple tasks of daily living can be a challenge. She works hard to guide her patients to a place where they are enjoying life and feeling good in their body: waking refreshed, managing stress, feeling nourished and energized, digesting well, experiencing mental clarity and happiness, and moving without pain.
Her approach is to keep things simple. She educates her patients so they understand what they are working towards and feel empowered to take their health into their own hands. Together they implement feasible dietary and lifestyle changes. She prescribes high quality herbal and nutrient supplements that are clinically proven as being effective for treating the condition or deficiency at hand. She uses acupuncture for some patients as a way to reduce pain, balance hormones, decrease stress, promote sleep and mental well-being, and provide relaxation. As a practitioner, she is constantly learning and researching to ensure that she is aware of the latest research and best practices in my field. Ultimately, the treatment revolves around her patients: their needs, goals, motivation and happiness.
Janine studied Kinesiology at McMaster University before pursuing studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, a four year program which she completed over six years while having her kids. While she enjoys seeing patients with many different concerns, she is particularly excited about treating kids and their families. She is also passionate about women’s health. She loves to help women regulate their hormones at all stages of life, whether trying to get pregnant, supporting pregnancy or postpartum, or dealing with the hormonal fluctuations of menopause.
A Naturopathic Doctor is an important part of every family’s health team. Janine meets patients looking for health promotion, disease prevention, natural treatment of illness, help with symptoms that conventional medicine has been unable to address, help minimizing side effects and the need for medication, and education on preventing and treating common acute conditions at home. As a Naturopathic Doctor, Janine is trained to diagnose, perform annual check-ups, provide educational well-child checks, and order labwork. She works collaboratively with other healthcare providers to address the needs of her patients. She creates individualized and minimally invasive treatments that address her patient’s specific needs and support them through the healing process. She acts as investigator, advocate, cheerleader and guide through the healthcare system.
She is always happy to provide a free 15 minute consultation to meet and discuss her approach further.
