Mike Maclean, RMT

Registered Message Therapist

My Approach

My approach is to treat the body as a whole, with the understanding that an area of discomfort may be influenced by the surrounding tissues as well as other, seemingly separate, parts of the body. During our treatments, I think of myself as a partner in my clients’ care, and attempt to listen to my clients and respect what they feel is going to be most helpful for them. I give exercises as suggestions to explore and to be used if they resonate with the individual, and focus on sharing my knowledge of how the body works so my clients can make informed choices about how they use it.

What to expect

  • Discussion of the client’s main concern, along with a review of key health information
  • Brief postural as well as gait analysis (as needed), and range of motion assessment (both prior to and during treatment), which support an outline of and mutual agreement to a treatment plan
  • Hands on treatment, with recommendations for one or two exercises or stretches to be done at home to support the treatment

Mike is a Registered Massage Therapist. Since graduating from Sutherland-Chan school of Massage Therapy in Toronto, Mike has continued to increase his understanding of the human body. The study of Tai Chi, the Axis Syllabus, Anatomy in Motion, and Nutritious Movement inform his practice. Mike understands that massage doesn’t have to be painful to be effective. He can work deeply but, with his training in Craniosacral Therapy, he can also offer a gentle approach. Respecting that all bodies are unique, he looks forward to working with you to find the care plan that serves you best.
