Tania Archbold, IBCLC

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

Bio

Tania is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Guelph in Molecular Biology and Genetics. She has always been fascinated about how the human body works.
She became interested in the biology of lactation after the birth of her first son in 2001. Since then Tania has studied human lactation extensively. Tania started her lactation education through volunteering with a local parent-to-parent volunteer lactation organization (LLLC), from 2008-2015. Her volunteer work led her on a path which brought her to training to become an IBCLC in 2010.
An IBCLC is a healthcare professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding/chestfeeding. An IBCLC is the only health care professional who is board certified in lactation management.

My Approach

I take a personalized approach to lactation support. I use evidenced based research to inform my suggestions and use my counselling skills to help parents navigate parenthood. I feel very strongly that parents should be given all the options in a situation so that they can make informed decisions about their breastfeeding/chestfeeding journey.

What to expect

  • Thorough history taking of the pregnancy, birth, medical issues of parent and baby, breastfeeding / lactation journey up to our appointment
  • Observe a full breastfeeding session / pumping session / bottle feeding session depending on the situation, as well as examination of parent and baby for physical issues which may impact breastfeeding/lactation
  • Feeding plan and/or referral to address the noted issues, includes free email follow up to adapt plan as needed
