Acupuncture is an amazing tool used to balance the body to decrease pain, heal injury, promote relaxation, and induce labour. It can help to improve nausea, sleep, digestion, and hormone balance. It does wonders to regulate the menstrual cycle and often plays a big role in improving fertility.

From a Western medical perspective, inserting a needle into a sore or muscle or joint is thought to stimulate the nervous system, calm areas in the brain where pain is experienced, release the body’s own painkillers, and release muscle trigger points.
From a Chinese medical perspective – inserting needles is thought to correct imbalances in the flow of energy, or qi, in the body, and to stimulate, calm, smooth, or build up organ systems and channels as needed.
The first insertion of the needle is usually felt with a tiny prick, but otherwise the sensation is very mild and even patients who don’t like needles typically enjoy the treatment.

Our Naturopathic Doctor and Acupunturist provide the acupuncture treatments at Robin’s Nest Family Care, so the treatment is very comprehensive. If time allows, we also encourage patients to relax and listen to a guided meditation during the treatment.
